The locking pin and spring are wear parts of the tailwheel assembly. Eventually, they wear out and have to be replaced, or they accidentally get shot across the hangar and lost during maintenance. Order one here. Fits Screaming Eagle, Doug Bell, Van's, JDAir, and similar tailwheels using a 1/4" square locking pin.
Comes polished, profiled and ready to install. Includes pin and spring.

This new pin works much better than the old pin it now stays locked until it is turned past the detent
The old one wouldn't lock
While reinstalling my tailwheel after painting, I slipped and let it drop. That launched the pin and spring toward that black hole where socks and such disappear. I found the spring but no trace of the pin. I have some thought to making the pin since I have a mill and lathe but decided it wasn't worth my time. I was right. I ordered on Sat and received them on Tues. They fit perfectly and I spent my time on more productive pursuits.
