DJM Manufacturing makes this lightweight alternative (25 ounces) to the much heavier Van’s tail wheel tire and hub (41ounces!). Precision sealed bearings eliminate any grease slinging onto the bottom of your rudder and keep the hub much more resistant to dirt accumulation. Not to mention, you save a full pound of weight.

  • 6061-t6 aircraft aluminum hub
  • 65 durometer SBR rubber tire
  • 5-1/2″ Diameter X 1-1/2″ wide at tread
  • Hub width: 2.1″
  • 3/8″ axle
  • Fits all Van’s, Screaming Eagle and Bell tailwheels with 3/8″ axle (1/2″ axle size available by special order)
  • Weighs only 25 ounces

    I bought this as sort of “Bling” for my RV6. My standard Vans tail wheel served me well over the years, but I was tired of grease flinging out on the wheel and tail wheel fork. This unit has sealed bearings and is 100% clean running. Love it. And it looks sharp too. Seems to be wearing well too.

    When you have a slightly tail heavy airplane, losing about a pound at the rearmost part of the aircraft, does a nice job of reducing that moment arm way
    back there. Aside from the loss of weight and the slight move forward of my CG, I’ve never felt a difference in any ground operations. That’s a good thing!! Very happy with the light weight tail wheel.

    This is a great tail wheel, but I wasn’t crazy about the new bolt design. Blake was kind enough to swap out the new bolt for the older design which works great with my tow-bar. Thanks for your great products!

    I liked this new lightweight tail wheel so much that
    I added the upgraded fork as well along with the stainless steel axel. Not only does it look great ,my RV7 taxis better and the takeoff roll seems more stable.
